NASA Satellite Time Lapse Images of Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill

On April 20, 2010 the oil rig Deepwater Horizon exploded, triggering an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Nasa's satellite instrument MODIS, on board the Terra and Aqua satellites, has captured images of the oil spill. In this MODIS timelapse, images have been selected that show the spill most clearly.
