More than 400 whales dead in mass stranding in New Zealand

More than 400 whales have died in a mass stranding at Farewell Spit, Golden Bay, New Zealand.

416 pilot whales have stranged at Farewell Spit in Golden Bay. It's estimated 70 per cent of the whales died overnight. It's the biggest stranding in recent times in New Zealand. DOC are urgently calling for volunteers who have their own wet suit, food and water for the day.
